Young Jacob Lees Gets Call up for England U20’s for the World Championships in Serbia.

Young Jacob Lees went to Meadowlands fishery to compete in the trials for the U20’s England Team, which would be going to the Danube Canal this year to try to retain the gold medals that they got last year. After narrowly missing out on team selection last year he has been out practicing and determined to qualify this year. the qualification was slider fishing and then pole fishing.

The day itself started off on the slider first which he started off slow to begin with but with his accurate casting and pin point feeding with the catapult he stated to put a few fish in the net and with the wind blowing off the back made it comfortable after the 2 hours he had caught the most in his section. A little break and then it was onto the pole and the wind had changed it’s mind and was blowing left to right, again bites started off very slow but soon started to catch.

Presentation was difficult but Jacob stuck to his gun’s and plugged away but thou he wasn’t catching as much as pegs further down to his right his fish were a bigger stamp and at the all out the fish were pictured and we guessed that he was 2nd in his section behind one of the England anglers from last year gold medal team but also beating one of last year team members off the next peg to his left.

After packing up and then the meeting it was all smiles and the hard work had paid off he had been chosen to be part of the team to travel to Serbia for this years U20’s World Championships.
